Holly smiled. "Ok well....I want you to read the first chapater in your book. Next class we're going to attempt turning timbles into your familars!" She nodded and shuffled a few papers on her desk.

Lily nodded, and took out her book. She swiftly flipped the few pages to get to the first chapter.

Koji smiled back at Lily warmly. Finally, a familar face
He leaned discretely to his right side, trying to see what Lily had picked. She had very neat, almost bubbly hand writing from what he could see, which wasn't much. Almost all of her paper was covered up by her book, already open to chapter one.
"What did you choose?" he asked quitely while the teacher straightened her papers. He followed Lily's lead and got out his own book and began flipping to the right page.

Lily looked up from her book to Koji. "I chose a cat. I know, a 'boring' choice. But I've always loved cats." She gave a warm smile back at him. "What'd you choose?"

"Cats are cool." Koji gave a laugh "My mother has one, I swear she likes it more than me."
He found the starting page and began skimming the lines,
"I chose a bat. Not exactly cute and cuddly but I think it'd be cool to have one. I wanted something that could help me out more, preferably something that flew...and I suppose it would be cool if it could scare a few girls." he added with a grin.
"Not you of course." he added mischievously.

Lily let out a laugh. "I'm not afraid of bats anyways. They're pretty awesome." She nodded and turned the page in her book. Then she looked back up at Koji. "So are you good at Transfiguration?"

"Me?" he paused in thought, "I'm not bad."
Back at his old school he had always managed to effortlessly claim top marks without really trying.
If I actually tried, I'd be brilliant.
"The subject's just never appealed too much to me." he shrugged offhandedly.
"Although," he cocked his head still thinking back "The professor and I never saw eye to eye..."
Because he was bloody short! A smile made it's way to his lips.
"He was extra hard on me...I think it was when I corrected him that one year..."
That's probably why I did so well though. I had to do perfect otherwise I'd have failed that class, Koji thought bitterly while picturing his short, wrinkled, balding excuse for a instructor.
"And you?" he gave her a playful nudge "Bet you're good."

Lily giggled then sighed afterwards. "Sadly, I'm not very good." She thought back to when she last tried transfiguration. "Once, I tried transforming a venemous snake into a cat..." Her head lowered as she was a little embarrassed. "I made it worse..I made the snake have cat legs. It was a funny sight indeed..but, cats can run fast. Good thing that I was by shelter." Putting her fingers lightly to her forehead and laughed slightly.

Koji gave a badly stiffled laugh, "I see. Well, I bet you learned from that mistake." He gave another soft chuckle as he tried picture a snake with cat legs.
He skimmed his current page taking in a few sentences here and there. I can't wait to create my own familar

"Oh, believe me, I did." She laughed embarrassed. The class was silent of the numerous students reading the text book. Lily glanced back up from her book to Koji. Say something to break the silence.. "Any classes/subjects that strike your fancy?"

Koji looked up from his reading. "Hmmm, I guess the DADA class-" His voice was too loud for the silent class, he took his volume down a notch and resumed. "-is pretty interesting. Although I'm not picking it up as quickly as I had hoped."
He furrowed his brow in thought, "I've always liked potions too. Never had a talent for it, but I thought it could be a useful skill....But that class was so far ahead by the time I arrived I figured to take it up later."
"Oh! I know!" His face lit up but he flicked his gaze briefly to the professor then back to Lily. Lowering his voice again he continued, "Dueling. I love it. Some boys like Qudditch but I'm obsessed with dueling."
His face was radiating with a childish excitement. "Use to be a team back home...I was depressed when I heard there wasn't one here actually."
